Why Can I No Longer Discuss The Bible?

Modern Christians today no longer want to discuss the Bible. This is a weighty statement, but Christians today want to stay so much in the realm of “basic doctrine” that they fail to see the Bible proclaims so much more.

When I approach another believer to discuss theology, they immediately proclaim it is un-important, un-edifying, and divisive. Riddle me this: would I go down to a Christian singer after a show and say to them, “what you are doing is un-important, un-edifying, and divisive to the Body.” Would I say that? Of course not, to do so would be foolish. But that same Christian singer can come and say that about theology, and it would be acceptable. Don’t you see? Theology is my outlet and my skill to which God has granted to me. Much like the singer, we have individual talents and none is more or less important than the other (1 Corinthians 12:15–25).

I’m having problems relating to other members of the Body. I spent so many years studying other religions and philosophies that I don’t know how to talk to a Christian that has no idea what Existentialism or Sikhism constent of. I was a professing Buddhist, Taoist, Unitarian Universalist, Postmodernist, and on and on. In fact, when I started seriously studying Christianity I wanted to be a Jew! I just can’t relate to a Christian that takes their faith for granted and/or they don’t even know why and what they believe.

Maybe there is just something I’m missing, but this is all true especially in America. In a time of Solid Rock statues, proponents of a gay marriage amendment, Lady Hope advocates, those who believe American was founded on Christian values, and other things that are incredibly un-Biblical and untrue to history—I don’t know what to do. We have downplayed truth so much for unity we have gospel hypocrites. They have no belief on the values present in Lordship Salvation, God’s eternal decree, God’s foreknowledge, and other very important Biblical issues. What did Jesus say?

“You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. “So then, you will know them by their fruits. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
