What of the passage in the bible in (ecclesiastes or proverbs) that said wine was "to make the heart of man glad".
Also with the numerous references to wine in the bible as a beverage that can get you drunk, were the wine at the last supper not alcoholic and referred at the last supper as "fruit of the vine",surely such an important detail would have been made clear to ordinary men.
Do you really believe Christ was going to Heaven to drink something as ordinary as grape juice?!!
You also have to take into account the culture of the day.Wine was widely drunk and mixed with water to reduce its potent effects so even children could drink it. Even these preservattion methods;would they have made non alchoholic wine too expensive for a carpenter?
I'm sorry but this preservation idea cannot fly and and ultimately the whole concept of non alchoholicwine falls.
Remember the bible is intended to be easy for ordinary men(such as myself to understand)
Dont forget the Lord made everything(including wine). It is only in the hands of man that the problem lies.
I would hope someone can address thes questions for me as i still open to persuasion

The Bible is intended to be clear and not confusing. so ordinary people can understand it.In the proverbs it says we can drink but not get drunk.
Also if the fruit of the vine is pure, then how can grape juice be called pure if it has been subjected to preservation the methods of the day?Unless they squeezed the grape juice straight into their cups at home it cannot be called "pure" anything.Coke is not pure just because it is alcohol free.
If Jesus drank unfermented wine,it would have caught the attention of the pharisees who were always looking to discredit him for not keeping with one tradition or another. What of the wine at Canaan that was of the best quality, whose quality was noticed by the revellers?I cant imagine grape juice being described as top quality by normal party guests who were not wine/grape tasters. It sounds more and more ridiculous and very dangerous. This wine represents the blood of Christ which was shed to conquer death that we may live, ultimately defining us as Christians.Remember the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.I am quite confident that on judgement i can say i drank wine in his memory(fermented)because it said so in the bible and stand by that conviction.Any other answer sounds like trying to be too clever for one's own good and one should not play that sort of game when the ultimate consequence could be eternal damnation.

It is an interesting article. For me, it seems hard to shake the idea that both the ancient Jews and Jesus himself would not have been using fermented wine. I say this from a stricly logical and historical sense according to my knowledge of the purpose of using alcholic beverages in ancient time. I do not have a biblical backing to make any argument.
