Billy Graham quoted in the cur­rent issue of Chris­tian­ity Today from a 1981 arti­cle in Parade.

“I don’t want to see reli­gious big­otry in any form. It would dis­trub me if there was a wed­ding between the reli­gious fun­da­men­tal­ists and the polit­i­cal right. The hard right has no inter­est in reli­gion except to manip­u­late it.”

    Lots of explo­sive terms here. I need more def­i­n­i­tion to “hard right” and “bigotry”.

    As the Dis­pen­sa­tion­al­ist would say: “Just take it at face value.”

    I’m decid­ing whether the gifts still exist (and I don’t want to debate that here), but Billy speaks prophet­i­cally about our cur­rent con­di­tion. It’s no wonder it’s quoted again in the cur­rent issue of CT.

    Sounds like the modern church, and Billy him­self, need to re-​think this quote.
