Major Decision: Seminary

I've made the decision to apply to seminary. After looking at a lot, there is no place that completely holds to all my theological convictions; but Southern seems to have the closest to the Reformed Baptist persuasion. Everyone's doing seminary these days!

I'm going to apply and take online classes this next year and then move down to Louisville. I haven't decided whether I'm going to enter the missiological or pastoral track yet. Suggestions welcomed.

  1. Honestly, I can see you doing both. Your heart is for missions clearly but you have the knowledge, desire to learn, gift of public speaking and passion for teaching as well. I will be praying that God make clearer the specific track you are to pursue. Blessings bro. >Alecia

  2. Hey I'm down here at Southern. Just wanted to say that you should maybe check out another Seminary named Northwest Baptist Seminary. It a bit more expensive and its a whole lot further away but its a lot more indepth and a lot smaller.

I would have gone there except my brother went there first and I didn't want to follow him. Its a tough school, its not Southern Baptist, but it would be my first pick if I were to do it all over again.

Not saying Southern is bad or anything, this is a good Seminary too but kinda big, its easy to get lost in the shuffle. there's my two cents.

  3. GREAT!!

Now you need to joing a SBC church ASAP! (I mean really, why wouldn't you?)

I could see you going into research before anything else. PsP

  4. That's completely exciting. I've been toying with the idea of going to seminary myself. (Where? Not a clue...)

I have no idea which track you ought to take, but I will pray that God makes it clear.

Hey, guess what? I met a whole bunch of Saudi international students last night. It was completely awesome. Thought you would get a kick.

  5. I did get a kick. Did you teach them about Isa al-Masi?

  6. No, I didn't teach them anything. I did ask them about their country quite a lot though.
It was at the Islamic Awareness Week down at Mines--Marc invited me. Some of them told Marc he ought to consider going to S.A. one day, which made us both laugh pretty hysterically afterward.

  7. Look forward to seeing you down here Chris! It's a great seminary and good teaching. Get ready to read a ton more than what was required in the MIS department at Wright State!:-) Have a good one man!
