Boasting in the Cross (Gal 6.11–18)

Paul com­pletes his mon­u­men­tal let­ter to the Gala­tians with a pas­sion­ate plea to remem­ber the very thing’and only thing’that jus­ti­fied them and that is the cross of Christ. I have preached this pas­sage a cou­ple times now to fel­low believ­ers at the end of an evan­ge­lis­tic effort to remem­ber that every­thing that was accom­plished was by the work of Jesus on the cross and not by our effort alone. “See with what large let­ters I am writ­ing to you with my own hand.” (6:11) Paul (read more...)

The A-Team Application

We all need to laugh at our­selves now and again. My ex-girlfriend found this let­ter on her com­puter. It is a let­ter explain­ing why I think I’m “wor­thy” to go into man­age­ment train­ing at McDonald’s. I didn’t edit any­thing so you can see how hor­ren­dous it is! It’s impor­tant to note that I loved work­ing there, but it’s a lit­tle embar­rass­ing to think that I was plan­ning my future around it. The Biblical Basis For Missions (N.T.)

As we have seen, the con­cept of mak­ing dis­ci­ples of all nations is not a New Tes­ta­ment idea, but some­thing has rad­i­cally changed. With the Advent of Christ, the Anointed Mes­siah, the Abra­hamic Covenant will finally find ful­fill­ment. God told Abra­ham that “In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed” (Gen 22:18), and Paul clar­i­fies in Gala­tians that Christ is the promised seed (Gal 3:16).
