Reading the Bible As Intended

I have a pet peeve amongst Chris­tians (well, one among a few). I get frus­tu­rated when Chris­tians attempt to read the Bible for some­thing that it was not intended to be used for. Among the guilty par­ties are Nou­thetic coun­selors and Answers in Gen­e­sis. To give an exam­ple of what I’m talk­ing about, let’s visit a few of these. The Need For Substantive and Well-Written Blog Content

It amazes me how many blog­gers spent an inor­di­nate amount of time try­ing to improve their hits, com­ments, etc. that they for­get the most impor­tant ele­ment in hav­ing a good blog. If the con­tent is found lack­ing then often it doesn’t mat­ter how pretty your site is, or how often your site gets hit. Covenant Confusion: The Nomenclature of Classical Covenant Theology

Nathan Pitch­ford has done the Chris­t­ian com­mu­nity a great ser­vice by clearly out­lin­ing the tra­di­tional three-fold covenant struc­ture in clas­si­cal covenant the­ol­ogy. The expo­si­tion isn’t so much of the pre­cepts of covenant the­ol­ogy which I would hold to such as Jesus “becom­ing” Israel and fufill­ing all of God’s promises, the con­cept of a “spir­i­tual Israel,” and the empha­sis on the covenants as God’s main mode of rev­e­la­tion.
