The New Covenant Impetus For Holiness

One of the amaz­ing rev­e­la­tions in the New Covenant is that, where God’s pres­ence was exter­nal in the tabernacle/temple, God’s pres­ence now takes up loca­tion inside of His peo­ple. The Psalmist under­stood long before this event of the holy nature of the temple: “How blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near to You To dwell in Your courts. The Necessity of Preaching in Salvation

The more I grow in the faith the more I am astounded by cer­tain rev­e­la­tions in the Scrip­tures. I believe that the Scrip­tures teach God alone saves sin­ners through His Son (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Rom 8:29–33; Eph 2:8–10). That is already an amaz­ing teach­ing! But what strikes me even more than that is that our omnipo­tent god has cho­sen to use those ves­sels of mercy as an instru­men­tal role in the sal­va­tion of those He has cho­sen before the (read more...)

My Mormon Experience

This last week­end I was invited by a friend to attend his con­gre­ga­tion. Nor­mally, it wouldn’t be abnor­mal, but my friend is a Mor­mon. Our con­ver­sa­tions have been good, but it’s been dif­fi­cult to wit­ness to some­one who claims the same sav­ior as I. It feels like a con­stant cir­cle of debat­ing friv­o­lous issues when the true issue gets side-stepped.
